CYBERSECURITY BUSINESS WITH SA OPERATIONS INVESTS IN AI

A Colorado Springs-based cybersecurity company made a strategic investment in a collaboration with a business building artificial intelligence software.

Root9b LLC, doing business as R9B, invested in Santa Monica, California-based Champion Technology Company Inc. The price of the deal was not disclosed. R9B expects to use the company’s product alongside R9B’s tools for real-time data analytics across its operations — known as adversary pursuit centers — in Colorado Springs and San Antonio.

R9B’s own technology enables its employees to navigate inside a customer’s network covertly while the new AI tool — called DarkLight — can be used to comb through millions of records for an analyst. R9B plans to train the AI tool to “think like a human analyst.”

“Machine learning has been on our roadmap for quite some time,” Eric Hipkins CEO of R9B told the Business Journal. “We see this as a large piece of the future of the company.”
